Obituary of Christopher Maloney
Christopher Martin Maloney born January 2, 1926 passed away peacefully on December 27, 2014. Chris was a native of Knockananny, Crossmolina, County Mayo, Ireland. Chris arrived in Sunnyside, New York in 1956 and worked for the NY Telephone Co. for over 30 years. Chris enjoyed watching the Mets games and following the news back in the old county in his weekly Western People. Chris was a great one for playing the button accordion and shared all the old tunes with his family. Chris was a great storyteller to his family of life growing up on a farm in the west of Ireland and his family attests to his love of nature and animals and his strong unbendable faith. Chris was also a long-standing member of the Knights of Columbus, Hudson Council. Chris is fondly remembered by his family as a gentle, loving, unshakable faith-filled husband and father who always had a funny thing or two to say to make you laugh.
Chris was one of 12 children to Peter Maloney and Helen (Munnelly) Maloney.
Chris was predeceased in the US by his sister, Bridie (Maloney) Sullivan, RIP, and is survived by his four nieces and nephews, John Sullivan, Gerard Sullivan, Eileen Sullivan and Timothy Sullivan, by his sister Madeline (Maloney) Gallagher of Ballina, County Mayo, by his beloved wife of 54 years, Mary (Condron) Maloney, his four children, Christopher Maloney, Jr. (Christine Triolo, spouse), Peter Maloney (Joli Lynn Gross, spouse), Elizabeth (Maloney) Conlon (Kevin Conlon, spouse) and Anne (Maloney) Schneider (Michael Schneider, spouse), and 11 grandchildren, Peter, Cathryn, Kayleigh, Jack, Christopher, Elizabeth, Ryan, Patrick, Brendan, Eliana (Ellie) and Caroline.
