Obituary of James D. Sullivan
James D. Sullivan, a devoted husband, brother and uncle, was peacefully reunited with the love of his life, Eileen on November 14, 2024 at the age of 88. James was born on January 3, 1936 in Kilmore, Cloghane, Co. Kerry, Ireland to the late Timothy and Agnes Sullivan. James emigrated to the United States in 1976 where he soon met and fell in love with his wife, Eileen O'Connor, a fellow Kerry native. They married in June 1977 and settled in Sunnyside, Queens developing everlasting friendships with the rest of the Kerry (and non-Kerry) folks in the neighborhood. James and Eileen loved walking around the neighborhood interacting with all their friends. James and Eileen were devoted Catholics and attended mass every Sunday at Queen of Angels. James, who lost Eileen in 2014, carried her memory close to his heart. James enjoyed working for the New York Times as a paper handler and often told stories of his many friends with whom he worked. James' passions included fishing at "the river" when he returned on vacation to Ireland and golfing on the courses throughout Queens. In addition to his wife Eileen, James is predeceased by his sisters Mary, Nora, and Siobhan and his brother Patrick. He is survived by his brother Michael, sister Sheila, sisters-in- law Cait, Anna and Elizabeth and brother-in-law Mathew. He was a beloved uncle to many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews in both the US and Ireland. James will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
