When Bickie worked in Muldoons he'd come over to us in O'Neills on his break to drink tea and see Packie, then in time he moved over permanently, it was an easy transition as he was already part of the furniture.
He was always stuck in a paper, a book or some puzzle, kind and gentle, so clever and talented, a gifted man gone far too soon. Sincere condolences to his partner Melissa, his family and all who loved him.

My deepest condolences to Melissa & all the Bannon family. Such sad news it is hard to take it in. Brian was a pure gentleman. The word sound and solid springs to mind when thinking of Brian but I most remember him at home in Ballyshannon for his brilliant voice. Sadly, I never got to see him in a while but myself & all the McNelis family have those memories to last a lifetime of Brian singing in those Millstone special sessions Up Day Yard!!
RIP Bickie xx

I was so sorry to hear about the sudden passing of Bickie, so many great nights we spent in Sean Og’s listening to him singing & playing guitar, the place would be hopping and Bickie would be keeping the crowd going with some great tunes. My deepest condolences to Melissa and family, Tom, Paul and Marie, Orla and family. We are all saddened by the passing of sweet Brian (Bickie). We used to love to hear his unique talent and singing “Van the Man” or “Mustang Sally” in Sean Ogs. Brian was a talented, sweet and kind genius who pondered many things in life, but always with a smile. We will miss you, Bickie. A shining star has gone out too soon.
Thinking of you all in this sad time and wishing you comfort in the many wonderful memories of Brian that you shared together.
May God rest his gentle soul.

I knew Brian from my Sister Roberta & Orla being friends growing up. I was working in New York for the summer 1999. I Was working in Smith’s Irish bar in the city. One day Brian just swaggers in, whistling a tune. I was shocked to see him, he’d walked from his place of work quite a distance away to come see, in his words, ‘another sham in town’. Brian was so kind. Also, I most definitely would have failed my leaving certificate maths if it wasn’t for Brian’s maths grinds - lessons that took place at Margaret Gallagher (Stephen’s Mum) kitchen table. Ballyshannon is shocked at your passing so soon Brian. We are so grateful for having these memories of you. You were one of a kind. Rest in peace. Condolences to all your family & friends. Xxx

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Brian’s untimely passing. He was a pleasant and easygoing man who loved his music. I remember a great night in our house on the Donegal Road many years ago and shortly before he went to NY listening to, and marvelling at, the genius of Astral Weeks from start to finish with Brian providing perfect lilting accompaniment along the way.
Sincere condolences to his partner Melissa, Tom, Paul, Orla and the extended family and his many friends and colleagues.
Your old neighbour

We were so saddened to hear about Brian's passing so suddenly in New York. Brian was our neighbour on the Donegal Road and we have so many fond memories of Brian's quiet charm as he went about his business in Ballyshannon. The singing and music stand out as does the friendly, neighbourly banter.
Our deepest condolences to his partner and his friends in New York and to Tom, Orla and Paul and the entire family.
We are thinking of you all at this really difficult time.

I will never forget the nights I shared with Brian in Fin McCool's pub in Ballyshannon in the mid 90s, he was one of the 1st to make me feel welcome in my new hometown, his rendition of Van's " The Way Young Lovers Do " always left me speechless, the informal music sessions always ended with Bickie singing the 1st verse of " Will The Circle Be Unbroken " where anyone and every one joined him, I regarded him as my friend, he will be sorely missed by his family and huge circle of friends both at home and Stateside, sleep well, my friend.
