Obituary of Dale E. Jones
Dale E. Jones died July 7th , 2020 at his home in Long Island City. Dale had this contagious energy and charm that you just couldn't help but gravitate to. You felt his magnetic presence as soon as he walked into a room. And man did he have a set of lungs on him! His booming voice brought such an incredible level of laughter, assurance and confidence that could not be matched. He was selfless and ready to help where and whenever he could. He was that dad, husband, son, brother, neighbor, friend, cousin, or uncle you knew you could always count on. He was born in Brooklyn but was raised in Hempstead, Long Island. He attended Howard University on an academic scholarship where he pledged Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. Upon graduating college, he was proud to follow in his father's footsteps and joined the NY Police Department at the age of 23. Two years later, he joined the Village of Hempstead Police Department where he remained until his retirement in 2013, serving a total of 26 years. He had such a love for many things in life. He was an avid golfer and never missed a single tee time with his friends. He was a New York sports fan all the way; Jets, Mets and even the Knicks :-) He had a love for music and even knew how to play the drums. Retirement afforded him the opportunity to travel the world. But out of all of Dale's accomplishments, he was most proud to be a "Girl Dad" to his three daughters Diana, Stephanie and Lauren. He didn't miss a single basketball game, dance recital or gymnastics meet. He was their biggest fan and always motivated them to strive for the very best. Dale was an amazing husband, father; a loving son, brother and a noble friend. He will be forever missed dearly by his wife Meryl, his daughters Diana and Stephanie, son-in-law J. R., granddaughter Lauryn Anabelle, his parents Jasper and Ruth, his sisters Solange and Yasmina, many nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as all of his extended family and friends. He has touched so many along the way and will never be forgotten. We are comforted in knowing that he is at peace and has been reunited with his daughter Lauren Michele.
Visitation will be Friday, July 10 from 3-8PM at Edward D. Lynch Funeral Home, Inc, 43-07 Queens Boulevard, Sunnyside, NY.
A Funeral Mass will be held 10:15 am on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at St. Raphael's RCC, 35-20 Greenpoint Avenue, Long Island City, NY. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery following the Mass
