Bob & Pat Sheehan, Beaufort, S.C. posted a condolence

I, Bob, never knew Mr. Novak but if he was anything like his son, Charlie, then he was a good man. Charlie and I went to St. Francis College together, but afterwards went our own ways in similar but different directions. We both had a taste of the Marine Corps, married, raised families and also had sad times in our lives as most of us do. We re-connected many years later at the SFC alumni dinners and developed a long distance friendship when my wife and I settled in the deep South over 11 years ago. Charlie often spoke about his dad and we both marveled as the clock ticked towards his 100th birthday. As the "Chairman of the Board" of the NYPD retirees, Mr. Novak lived longevity which most of us will never achieve. To live in one century and then bounce into another for 16 years is incredible, especially since Mr. Novak never suffered any loss of intellect. His memories of his career, and life in general, is worthy of a book.
Another chapter in the lives of the Novak family has come to a close. May my good friend, Charlie, and his family, be comforted by all of the wonderful memories. Mr. Novak has finally found eternal rest.
