Obituary of John Patrick O'Neill

John Patrick O'Neill passed away peacefully in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida on September 7, 2016 at the age of 88. John is survived by his son Michael O'Neill and his wife Susan of Miami Lakes, Florida, daughter Christine O'Neill of Royal Palm Beach, Florida, daughter Margie Aucoin and her husband Brian of West Palm Beach, Florida, grandchildren Megan O'Neill, Jonathan O'Neill, Katie Aucoin, Ryan O'Neill, Caroline Aucoin and Brian Aucoin; and his brothers Daniel O'Neill of Glenwood Lake, NJ and Frank O'Neill and his wife Marie of Greenwood Lake, NY.. John is preceded in death by his wife Anita Hand O'Neill, son Thomas O'Neill and Brothers Martin O'Neill and Eugene O'Neill. John O'Neill was born on March 5, 1928 in New York City, NY to Martin and Elizabeth Colleran O'Neill originally of County Mayo – Republic of Ireland. John married Anita Hand in 1959. After graduating High School, John enlisted in the Navy at the age of 17 at the end of World War II. He served our country later in the US Army as a Paratrooper with a Combat Infantry Division in Korea. After leaving the service he worked for Republic Industries and as a jet engine mechanic for Pan American Airways where he continued to work until his retirement in 1990. A viewing will be held on September 11 at Edward Lynch Funeral Home, 43-07 Queens Blvd, Long Island City, NY with visitation between 2:00- 5:00 PM and 7:00-9:00 PM. The funeral mass is scheduled for 10:30 AM on Monday - September 12, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 4404 Skillman Avenue, Sunnyside, NY, with a reception to follow.
