Obituary of John Murphy

Murphy, John "Jack" of Sunnyside, NY died April 6, 2016 at Elmhurst Hospital following a long illness. Born in Manhattan to Daniel and Anna Murphy, he lived most of his life in Queens, NY. Jack was enjoying retirement from his job as a computer technician. He was known as a happy man by most who knew him. An avid Mets, Giants and Notre Dame fan, he could always be found watching sports. He is survived by his mother Anna Murphy, sister Julia (Granville) Waterman, brothers Donald (Jean)and Michael (Lucille) Murphy, nephew Thomas (Maureen) Waterman, nieces Anne (Douglas) Walter, Dawn Decesare and Jeanine (Mark) Chakar, grandnephews Douglas Walter, Jr.,Jamie Walter and Gavin Chakar, grandnieces Kathleen (Bruce) Leote, Bridget Chakar and Lara Leote. Jack is predeceased by his father Daniel Murphy. Family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 2-5PM & 7-9PM at the EDWARD D. LYNCH FUNERAL HOME, 43-07 Queens Blvd., Sunnyside, NY. Mass of Christian Burial, Monday 11AM at Queen of Angels RC Church, Sunnyside, Queens, NY 11104. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
