Luke Wagner Adams Obituary
Luke Wagner Adams, a long-serving volunteer and former Sunnyside business owner, passed away on November 10th, 2014. He was 76.
Luke had lived in Sunnyside for more than 40 years. Past President of the Sunnyside Chamber of Commerce, he was well known by the community for his work with the Sunnyside-Woodside Lions Club and SunnysideArtists.org and was the first recipient of the "Sunnysider of the Year Award."
"We are all saddened by the news that Luke Adams has passed away", said Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer in a statement. "Luke loved Sunnyside like no other person could."
Visitation is to be held at the Edward D. Lynch Funeral Home on Thursday from 2:00-5:00 & 7:00-9:30 PM.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 14, 2014 at St. Raphael's RCC, 35-20 Greenpoint Avenue, Long Island City, NY 11101 at 11:00 AM.
Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, 83-15 Kew Gardens Road, Kew Gardens, NY 11415
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the newly formed "Luke Adam's Sunnyside Artist Award". This new award will be granted out annually to a local artist(s) through the Sunnyside Artist, Inc. non-profit group. It is the hope that this award will keep Luke's positive impact on Sunnyside and its residents moving forward.
