Lynch Funeral Home, Inc, 43-07 Queens Boulevard, Sunnyside, NY. Mrs. Lena Gorginyan (Queens, NY) passed away at the age of 84 on June 21, 2014, at home surrounded with her beloved family. Lena Gorginyan was born on February 1, 1930 to Artush Gorginyan and Arusyak Dalladyan, in Odzun, Lori province, Armenia. Her ancestors - came from Cilicia. She was raised by her Grandmother Sona, a virtuous and kind woman, who became Mrs. Gorginyan's role model in life. After finishing high school, Mrs. Gorginyan entered Yerevan State Pedagogical University, Department of Physics and Mathematics which she graduated in 1952. In the 50 years that followed, she educated and mentored generations of students. In recognition of her excellence, dedication and hard work Mrs. Gorginyan was granted numerous medals, awards, diplomas and titles, such as " Honorary Teacher of the Republic of Armenia" and "Honorary Professor of Russian Academy of Science". The loving and honest teacher sowed love for nature and science in the minds of her students and fostered the best human values. Many of her students followed their beloved mentor in becoming renowned professionals in science and education. The great teacher was also passionate for the art of lace-making. She was one of those lace-makers whose works bear the distinct signature of the artist. "Cross" was Mrs. L. Gorginyan's favorite motif for many years. Her laces are exceptionally unique and express the aesthetic taste and delicacy before the viewer. In the past couple of years her works were shown in numerous exhibitions in Yerevan and New York that impressed the viewer by exclusive composition, meaning and content. Most importantly, Mrs. Lena Gorginyan was a beloved mother to Karine and her husband Gagik, Anahit and her husband David, Hrachia and his wife Gohar. She was the cherished grandmother to Hripsime, Grigor, Ani and Levon as well as loving nieces, nephews, and friends. The family will receive friends on 7:00-9:00PM pm on Monday, June 23rd, 2014 at Edward D. Lynch Funeral Home, Inc, 43-07 Queens Boulevard, Sunnyside, NY 11104. The funeral mass will be held 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 24th, 2014 at Edward D. Lynch Funeral Home.
