Obituary of John J. Nero Leone

John J. Nero Leone, age 89, of Long Island City, died Sunday, February 16, 2014 at VA Home at St. Alban's, NY. John was born April 5, 1924 in Long Island City, NY. He is the son of the late Achille and the late Loretta (Esposito) Nero. He is survived by his beloved wife Kathleen (O'Neill) Nero Leone. Also by his loving children Patrick, Frankie, Geraldine, Rita, Charlie, Julie, Mary, Tommy, and the late John and Michael. He is also survived by his brother Patrick and sister Millie. He had 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He served in the US Army during World War II from May 1, 1943 to June 11, 1945. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00AM on Friday, February 21, 2014 at St. Mary's Church, 10-08 49th Avenue, Long Island City, NY. Burial will be in Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale on Friday, February 21 at Noon. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 19 from 2-5PM and 7-9:30PM and Thursday, February 20 from 2-5PM and 7-9:30PM at Edward D. Lynch Funeral Home, Inc, 43-07 Queens Boulevard, Sunnyside, NY.
