Joan Gasparro Obituary
With great sadness, we announce the passing of Joan Gasparro, who died at her home in Port Orange, FL. Born in Chelsea, NYC, Joan spent much of her life in Woodside, NY, where she raised her family and served as a beloved and dedicated crossing guard, deeply cherished by her community. Her exceptional commitment to her role earned her multiple citations from the NYPD, recognizing her unwavering dedication to protecting the children she crossed and her genuine care for others.
Joan was a loving wife to the late Anthony Gasparro and a patient, devoted mother who always put her family first. She guided her children, Anthony, Peter, and Richard, with kindness and wisdom, creating a foundation of love and support they will carry with them always. She was also a proud and devoted grandmother to Joseph and Spencer.
After retiring, Joan relocated to Port Orange, where she embraced her new chapter with joy. She formed wonderful friendships with her neighbors and Bingo pals and found endless delight in feeding every squirrel, bird, and stray cat that wandered into her yard. No animal ever left her driveway hungry—earning her the well-deserved title of the neighborhood's unofficial wildlife caretaker!
Joan's unwavering kindness, selflessness, and warm spirit touched everyone who knew her. Her sense of humor and unique ability to bring joy to all creatures, human or otherwise, will be deeply missed. Though her passing was difficult, her memory will forever shine brightly in the hearts of those who loved her.
