Obituary of Bridie Darcy Kokesh

Brigid (Bridie) D'arcy Kokesh Bridie was born September 19th 1946 in Galway, Ireland to Hyacinth & Mary (Collins) D'arcy and passed away September 2nd 2024, peacefully, at home, surrounded by her loving family. Bridie came to America when she was just 18 years old and was sworn in as an American citizen on September 19th 2015. She resided in Toms River, New Jersey for the past 2 years with her daughter Debra and her family, but is a long time resident of Woodside, Queens, New York. Bridie started working at Charlie's Sports Bar in the mid 1970s and retired in 2016. She was very well-known as a woman who walked everywhere, almost at a sprint. Her smile and her laughter were absolutely contagious. If you bumped into her on the streets or in the bar you were usually greeted with a "Hiya love!" which earned her the nickname of "Bridie-love" in the 1980s. Bridie was pre-deceased by her husband, Robert Kokesh. She leaves, to cherish her memory: four children - David, Jacqueline, Debra (Rourke), Robert (Annmarie); six grandchildren - Travis, Vincenzo, Robert, Chynna, Haley, and last but not least, Martin John; and one great-grandchild - Atlas. Bridie had so many family & friends that meant the world to her and we'd like to thank each and every one of you for a lifetime of memories. Please come and celebrate the life of this wonderful woman with us - bring your Bridie stories! Visitation hours will be Friday, September 6 from 4-8PM at Edward D. Lynch Funeral Home, Inc, 43-07 Queens Boulevard, Sunnyside, NY. Funeral Mass will be held at 9:45 am on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at St. Sebastians RCC, 58th Street And Roosevelt Avenue, Woodside, NY. The family would love if everyone could join them in Bridie's Celebration Of Life at Charlie's Sports Bar, 44-08 60th Street Woodside , N.Y. 11377 at 11 am.
