He was born on November 14, 1949 to James " Eddie" and Helen " Nana" Burnette in Queens, New York. He served his country proudly during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army. He worked as a Floor coverer in the Local 2287 Carpenters Union. John married his beloved wife Julie who survives him, on November 5, 1977. He is also survived by his devoted children Joanie and Johnny as well as his daughter in law Marilyn. His legacy will live on in his adored grandchildren Brandon, Evan, Lauren, Chris and his girl friend Leana. He also leaves behind his sister in law Mary and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and his beloved dog Scrappy whom he purchased for the kids. He was always a family man first, and would go above and beyond if it brought happiness to those he loved the most. He was an avid sports and ice cream enthusiast. You would often find him playing ball in PS 125 schoolyard, where he was affectionately known as JB. His passion was basketball and relished in teaching the game to many children, his favorite students being his son and grandkids.
