Obituary of Mary Jane Clancy

Mary Jane Clancy passed away Saturday, April 20, 2024 at age 63 following her two year battle with lung cancer. In the final days of Jane's life, she was surrounded by her children, siblings, family and friends. All that knew her, loved her. Jane – a loving mother, talented artist, and administrative professional – was born in Mineola, NY on October 24, 1960 to Janet Peek Clancy and Frank Leo Clancy. Jane was the second youngest of seven children. The Clancy home had an open door to many of their neighborhood friends: filled with music, laughter, art and happy memories. This accepting and non judgmental upbringing shaped Jane to who she was as an adult – always there for those who needed it. Anyone who knew Jane knows that she loved her children above all else. Every moment was dedicated to having fun and ensuring their happiness – from countless trips to Brookwood Hall Park in Islip, late night trips to Virgin Records in Times Square, or just driving around with a car full of kids blasting Pink Floyd – time with her kids and their happiness always came first. Like her own mother, Jane provided a welcoming environment and was always ready to lend an ear, a meal, a ride, or advice to both her children and their friends. A resident of Sunnyside since 1996, she is a familiar face in the neighborhood that will be missed. She is survived by her children, Brin and Alec Azzarello; her grand-dogs and pets, Ralph, Mocha and Bart; her siblings Frank Clancy, George Clancy, Virginia Clancy, Andrew Clancy and Stephen Clancy. She is predeceased by her parents, Frank and Janet Peek Clancy, as well as her brother, Duncan Clancy. She is also survived by her large extended family: nieces, nephews and cousins. Even during her darkest moments, Jane remained positive and put her faith in God. She defied the odds of her diagnosis, living past the expectancy: she was a fighter. "For if you have faith the size of a mustard seed…nothing shall be impossible for you." Matthew 17:20. Visitation services will be held Friday, April 26, 2024 from 4-8pm at Edward D. Lynch Funeral Home, 43-07 Queens Blvd., Sunnyside NY 11104.
