Edwin J. Atkinson III, known to most as "Eddie A" passed peacefully at the age of 57 on February 9, 2023. Born and raised in Woodside, NY, he was a proud Woodside Warrior all his life and amassed many friends in his lifetime for his "larger than life" attitude and generosity. Eddie attended St. Sebastian School and St. John's Prep. He was a proud member of Local 94, International Union of Operating Engineers, who just recently retired after more than 30 years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus in Woodside, where he had the distinctive title of Grand Knight. Eddie was a proud Irish American Catholic, and devoted NY Yankees and Giants fan. Loving and caring brother of Susan Haugh, Catherine Manganiello (Michael) and Irene Whalen (Rhys). He was the treasured uncle of Claire Sullivan (Jimmy), Tara Whalen (Nick Nasuta), the late Michael Haugh, Paul Manganiello (Michelle Greco), Michael Manganiello (Alexis Fischer), and Kelsey Manganiello. Beloved Great-Uncle of Bryce and Beckett Sullivan and Lucas Manganiello. Loving cousin to the Feeley and McDermott families. He was pre-deceased by his loving parents, Edwin J. Atkinson Jr. and Susan Dorothy Atkinson (nee Bolster). Visitation will be Wednesday, February 15 from 3-8pm at Edward D. Lynch Funeral Home, Inc, 43-07 Queens Boulevard, Sunnyside, NY.
