I am so sorry to hear of Christopher's passing. Since I moved out of Woodside to New Hampshire we contact each other every so often. Christopher actually made the journey to Nashua New Hampshire. He cut down one of his hockey sticks so that it was the proper level for my son. I tried calling and the phone was disconnected so I did a search and found this information. I was going to tell him that I'm a grandma now and I wanted to see if you wanted to cut a hockey stick down for him he also gave me this little Godzilla figurine. I made my phone ringer the Godzilla noise for a lot of years.
When my twin brother Sean died in 2015 I didn't contact anybody for a while. I miss you Chris. You are where you want to be... in the galaxy. Until we meet again..
.
Hugs,
Susan "Sue Baby" Birmingham

Dearest Christopher
Your journey in life was cut short and unfairly. You know I always loved you. You are now free from
Pain and sickness and flying amongst us all.. I am so grateful that we got to spend quality time together and reminisce about the last 55 years of
Friendship. Sending my thoughts and love
To you…

My condolences on Christopher’s passing. Sunnyside will miss his spirit, humor, insightfulness, and quirky nature. We timed moving our cars for alternate side every Monday and Wednesday and we’d converse for hours on politics, conspiracy theories, bike lanes and the invasion of Sunnyside by the Wokes. When getting around became more of a challenge he’d decline my offers for help. He was fiercely independent. Chris was good-natured and generous to so many; I wish he could have allowed some of that return love and support back in for himself. Chris, you were taken too soon, deprived of the fun and relaxing retirement years that awaited you. I will miss you and the NY Rangers curtains that proudly adorned your windows.
A Sunnyside legend has passed but will never be forgotten.

Chris wrote a letter to my Wifes Grandfather back in 1985. Look at the beautiful words. Push aside all the kookey Murph stuff.....lok at the words. This man had a heart that just needed friends and people to care for him and understand him. He got that especially towards the end. The pic is from "HIS NIGHT" ---Veech

My lifelong bud...He was just one of a kind. Many people would walk by him or at times ignore him. But to us from the "Park" who knew him, we knew he would always say something poignant right when you least expected it. He would be going on a Planet "ZEACON" Rant......then , WHAM!! He would say something so smart, so right on the money that you'd be taken back. He would make some very intelligent and just so smart comments about you that you would stop dead in your tracks. I know i feel horrible that I did not appreciate him as much as i should of the last 5-6 years.......man, all he wanted was a friend who cared and reached out to HIM. Yes he kept you on the phone talking about "Z" ONLY.....but, somehow.......you knew wtf he was saying?!!?? LMFAO....OMG.....He would just look at you and you would turn around and he was eye balling you like in the bar....and WHAM he'd say something about what we both did or experienced back in 1982......i mean, just a Sunnyside character the Likes we will NEVER SEE AGAIN. God i wish he was on the internet ....and people saw his "Z NESS" .....Man I miss him. And i'm a phoney i didn't call him nearly enough, sometimes i'd ignore his calls.....and now, i regret passing up those moments . Nuggets of Murph-ism's.....gone . But u know what.....I and NONE OF US will ever forget him. He is with "Hey" (Gandalf"), his Mom, Ringo the turtle....Jim Morrison......man i can go on. Love Ya "Z" .....and Z....oh and if i don't speak to ya..."Z" .....yep....Z..
