I first met Tom in the lunch room at our assigned table in 3rd grade at Saint Joan of Arc. He was one of the first friends I made. He was quiet and always smiled. I can still hear his laughter and "dad jokes" he told as we all ate our lunch. A few years ago we reconnected via FB and he told me about his life and his beautiful family he loved so much. He was an incredible person from a young age; an amazing human being and gracious soul. My heart and prayers are with his family, friends and loved ones. My deepest condolences. Rest in Forever Peace and Glory, "old friend, old buddy old pal" (as he used to say laughing)..

His infectious Smile and Generous Warmth was always Admired By My Husband James who’s really only met him a few times at Your wedding, Tom was so kind to my Niece who he met once but took the time out to make sure her experience in New York and New Years Eve was Memorable.. My memories of Tom begin in Jackson Heights at a young age, and moving on to summers in the Breffini and Queens. My fondest memories will always be Tom in Ireland showing his love for his wife Diane and gorgeous children. Godbless you all. May you find peace knowing Thomas will always be beside yee. While I have many memories of Tom over the years I will forever remember him playing the bag pipes in our Jackson Heights garden. Tom was the same quiet leader then as he was years later as a police officer, husband and father. His loss is too great to understand. May he rest in eternal peace where he can guide his loving wife, children, sister and mother toward long and happy years ahead. He would want it no other way. This will always be my favorite photo of Tom...able to maintain professionalism even amongst this cast of characters. He was such a fun guy to be around, always calm, always able to find a solution to any problem. His love for his family was always so evident and it was wonderful the way he spoke about them. I will miss him.

To this day no one has made me laugh as hard and Thomas did in this moment. My deepest condolences to the Carney family, Thomas will be deeply missed.
