Mrs. Walker left a deep impression on me. A true woman of God, with an unwavering faith. Thank you dear "Lucie" for teaching me how to be resilient, brave and to trust in God's mysterious ways.
I want to also thank the family for such a beautiful meeting a few weeks back and for letting us provide care for Mrs. Walker.
In my prayers,
Dr. Maria del Mar Ortega

My Auntie Lucy. You will forever be in my heart. I always said when I was younger that I want to be just like my Aunt Lucy when I grow up. Strong, beautiful and resilient. Identical replica of my late father Gabriel. I have such great memories of you when I was younger. Those memories will forever be cherished. Love you forever.

I was always impressed by Mrs. Walker. Although I met her towards the end of her journey, she exemplified so much strength to me. Her faith in God was magnified even when she had no words. I know she is sitting right beside God at this present moment, as that’s how precious she was. She will be remembered, and her love for life will live on through her immediate family.
May peace be with you all.

My deepest sympathies to all of her children. Lucie was the only family member whom my parents, Clement and Josette, trusted to frequent their children. My earliest memory of a relative here in the US was with you Lucie. I remember my parents taking us to New York every Thursday to visit with you. I recall you opening the door with the greatest smile, warm and unpretentious. I looked forward to every visit. That warmth remained in my heart until I was an adult. Your Grace and wisdom will remain with me. I always knew you were special, and I believe that God has a special place in heaven for you. Continue to spread your joy from above, Lucie, as I will be seeking it. During my times of trouble, I will remember that warm embrace and gleaming smile right along with God’s blessings. Thank you…..merci et que Dieu te benisse!

Grandma, Mommy, The Sunshine of my life..You will always be the most resilient, independent, strongest, Beautiful, Hilarious and strict, Yet sweetest person to me and the whole family. Growing up, you taught morals, someee creole lol & wisdom to me and my cousins. That it is now apart of me & I will tell my Children one day about all I remember. I will never forget our memories, You used to bring me with you early in the morning to church (st.rafeals,st Theresa ..you had many options in sunnyside lol but st.Theresa was the one). Ill always remember waking up to “10/10 wins morning news” the breakfast you’d make, walking to OTB with you (you telling me don’t talk to anyone LOL and waiting in the corner), taking walks to Ashley & Lindsey’s, us going to the ”corna store”, watching channel 7 all day, from the view, all my children, “this is jeapordyy with aleeex tribec”, to you doing my hair (that hurt oh so bad but i always loved it), but thank you for being there for me and watching over all your grandchildren, you are amazing. I’ll remember all the recent memories too like laughing with you, playing bellero (and you singing along) , trying to dance with you, Or even dancing For you, making sure you were comfortable & just helping you when I could to giving you kisses and exchanging “I love yous”, I will always cherish you & the memories forever! Thank you for being our Lucie Brusrette Walker! One things for sure is that God blessed us with you & im greatful we shared you, your love, being able to experience your SARCASM and all! I will love you for eternity, I’ll miss you but it’s a relief to know you are out that bed ..I know you’d say “that’s not a life”, so now I just pray you are freee & at peace ! Job well done Grandmama, you did so well with your time here, you made a beautiful family & set so many examples. you are now our angel, I love you immensely & I will have to learn creole for you lol ! You will always make me happy even on a cloudy day! My Cherie Bon Bon for life xoxoxoxoxo

Lucie was a very generous and loving person. It was wired in her DNA. She always cared and looked out for everyone around her. I also knew her as a very devout Catholic who always admired and drew strength from Saint Jude. A lot of her principles were centered around being faithful and giving selflessly.
When I was 4 years, my very first Christmas gift was a small blue racecar from Lucie. It was the only Christmas present I ever got during my childhood and I cherished it immensely. About sixty years later, I still have not forgotten nor will I ever forget how happy it made me. That small gesture had a huge impact on my youth. Just a few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to hold hands and pray with Lucie before her passing. I am grateful to have knew Lucie. May her soul rest in peace.
