Obituary of Armenouhi Aksherian
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Armenouhi "Armik" Aksherian, 91, of Queens, NY who passed away peacefully on December 10th, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.
Armik was born on November 8th, 1930 to Haik and Serbouhi Hambartsoumian in Leninakan, Armenia and has two younger brothers, Vartan (Lena) and Gevork (Eliso).
In 1950, Armik met Stepan Aksherian in Yerevan, Armenia and got married in February of 1951. Armik and Stephan went on to have their three loving and devoted daughters, Flora (Amod), Anahid (Arto) & Anoush (Azat). In 1973, their family began a life changing journey to America by way of Beirut, Lebanon and finally made it to New York in 1974.
Armik, known as Mets Mom, was the beloved grandmother of Anita (Toros), Armina (John), Stephan, Diana (Vazgen), Jack, and Stephan. She was also the adored great-grandmother of Aren, Eva, Olivia, Natalia and Dylan.
She was predeceased by her dedicated husband Stepan (1989), parents Haik (1974) and Serbouhi (2004), and son in law Amod (2013).
Armik was an amazing cook, which has left us all longing for her bouregs, egg and tomato omelets, shamali and anoush abour.
She lived a full life as a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Most of all she loved her family unconditionally and instilled immeasurable values in her children and grandchildren that have served them all well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
Services will be held at Holy Martyrs Armenian Church in Bayside, NY on Tuesday, December 21st, 2021 at noon. Due to the current pandemic, there will not be a receiving line. A graveside service will be held immediately after at Cedar Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Holy Martyrs Armenian Day School using the following link: https://www.hmads.org/support_hmads/donate
