Obituary of Richard L. Mussi

Richard L. Mussi, 74, of Woodside, NY passed away peacefully on Monday, August 16, 2021 after a long illness. Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Carol (Hamluk) and daughter Jennifer Nolan, son-in-law Richard and granddaughter Clare. "Papa" was Clare's best friend. Richard is survived by his brother Michael Mussi. Richard enjoyed a life-long relationship with his in-laws Diane and Daniel Kavanagh and Patricia and Edward Zimmel, their children and many aunts, uncles and cousins in the Besignano and Mussi families. Richard is predeceased by his parents Louis and Angelina Mussi (Besignano). Richard worked for many years in the print industry and in retirement enjoyed serving as a New York City election poll worker. Richard was an enthusiastic stamp and coin collector. He was a New Yorker and patriot at heart. He enjoyed the New York Yankees, completing The New York Times crossword puzzles and was an avid reader, particularly well read in current events, politics and World War II history. Visitations will be Thursday, August 19 from 4-8PM at Edward D. Lynch Funeral Home, Inc, 43-07 Queens Boulevard, Sunnyside, NY. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 am on Friday, August 20, 2021 at St. Teresa RCC, 44th Street And 50th Avenue, Woodside, NY. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Woodside following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's memory may be made to the food pantries at Saint Teresa Roman Catholic Church, 50-20 45th Street, Woodside, NY or Saint Raphael's Roman Catholic Church, 35-20 Greenpoint Avenue, Long Island City.
