Obituary of Florian Stanescu

Florian Stanescu was a beloved husband to Simona, and father of 2 beautiful children Tiberiu and Sebastian. Born on July 23rd 1951, Florian was an ambitious pioneer who saw the challenges that communist Romania posed as well as the opportunities the west offered. The courage he and Simona possessed to travel to the U.S. for a better life is to be admired. The Stanescu family faced many challenges and obstacles as they started their life over again in a distant land, but with Florian's leadership, will, and love for his family, they achieved extraordinary goals. He truly believed in the American dream and realized it in the 36 years he spent in the U.S. Always a thinker driven by his hunger for a better life for his family, Florian devoted his time to his craft earning his Master Plumber license and securing a respected position with the New York City Housing Authority, a relationship that lasted for over 20 years leading to his retirement, 2 full grown, accomplished boys, a proud, devout wife, and a beautiful home in Yonkers NY that he worked on to transform into the house he and his wife always dreamed of. Florian was also an avid hunter and lover of travel. He and Simona made time to see the beautiful parts this world has to offer, setting an example to many that our Earth is beautiful and is worth exploring. They visited many countries and cities while cherishing the history and the architecture contained within. Florian was also a man that preserved Romanian tradition that he passed onto his sons. He celebrated Romanian holidays and prepared traditional charcuterie, pickles, and Romania spirits, along with Simona who prepares traditional Romanian pastries and sweets till this day. Florian will be missed but he was surrounded by those who loved him, in his final days. The engineer in him, planned these final days to where he was able to say his last goodbyes to all those who touched his life. He will be truly missed and will remain in our hearts forever... Visitation will be Tuesday, June 22 from 4-8PM at Edward D. Lynch Funeral Home, Inc, 43-07 Queens Boulevard, Sunnyside, NY. Prayer Service will be held at 7:00PM. The funeral service will be held 11:00AM on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at Edward D. Lynch Funeral Home, Inc, 43-07 Queens Boulevard, Sunnyside, NY. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hastings-on-Hudson on Wednesday, June 23 at 1:00 pm.
