Tom Moran was a hero. Google "Jeweler Slain Village Loses Friend" August 30 1994. New York Times.
I guess he never said much about that. He and his work partner, Kevin Breen were citizens of the week in NYC. They were also Daily News's choice of Citizens of the Year.
Rest in peace good fellow.

About 28 hrs ago I sent word into NYC “looking for Help for a cabling project In Indiana, on a Sunday afternoon three Irish lads “all newbees” arrived at my house in NJ to begin the 15hr trek west , I clearly Remember my first thought when I seen the crew, two bigger lads and a smaller fair skinned lad in the back seat , “one of these lads will be headed back in two days On a Greyhound bus” yep ! that was my first Impression of Tom Moran , never have I been so wrong on a first Impression.
We arrive 15hrs later in a town across the river from Louisville Kentucky , got setup in hotels, next day went to work ,
It was unusually hot for mid April ,by evening we realized we had all gotten sun burned , but none like Tom .
Next morning I went to his room , he was getting dressed , I took one look at him and said “ Tom it’s hospital u should be going not work “ he swore a few times and said “give me ten minutes” I swear I thought he would walk out dressed for a trip to the hospital, but not Tom ,, dressed for work with a wool hat
Makeshift Scarf, long sleeved shirt and cutoff socks on his hands, I remember thinking “wow this guy is something special “. Now ye all know how Tom Moran got those scars on the back of his hands if you have read this far .
From Maine to Alabama to Florida I can recant many a story of days working and playing sports with Tom .
Tom was the Toughest hardiest man I ever knew , but also had the biggest kindest heart . He’d give u his last dollars .
So Farewell Tom .. so glad u didn’t make the greyhound bus
thank-you for the Memories...Aidan Carolan
