We are in shock and so sorry to here of Kuya Norman's passing. Since I was little I've had fond memories of Uncle Siso and his family visiting us in Connecticut or us visiting Lola Dora and family in Queens. Our last memory of Kuya Norman and Rose was at our wedding. Were you guys having fun! We were thankful you were able to celebrate our special day with us. And that's what I'll remember of our cousin...a family man who showed up, and was a very kind, caring, and funny person. May you rest in peace Kuya Norman and Rose you are in our thoughts and prayers. Love, Rachel n Jeff

Norman, my boss in ARF, we haven’t work together for a long time, but I always remember the days that we worked, your smiling face, your patiently teaching, your encouragement, I am so thankful to have you as my boss in my career, I thought when life is back to normal, we could grab a lunch together to see how you are doing, but I could not imagine I will write on your tribute wall now, this is way too early for you. Really miss you, Rest In Peace boss!

Norman and I only worked together for a short while but Norman didn’t need much time to make an impact on someone. I sat right behind him and so every morning when I got in we would catch up, discuss our workout plan for the day, family, and everything in between. I remember shortly after I started we took a business trip to Baltimore where I met his lovely wife Rose and we had a great time eating and drinking all that we could. Norman was a calming soul in a not so calm environment and that smile could turn your day around. I will miss him very much and I know he is watching over all of us now just as he always had.
Rest easy Normandijo

Rose and Norman's family,
To have been in his inner circle as you were as his family, meant you knew why he worked so hard... for you to be proud of him and all that he accomplished.
Norman suited up and was a true professional every.... single... day. He never once lost composure despite the oddities and unnecessary stress that abounded. But his eyes. His eyes said so much. They held the pain of winces and the resilience of strong spirit, and the kindness of compassion and yes the sparkle of mischief. I love when one side of his mouth would turn upwards head slightly cocked and the twinkle would pierce right through me. It was as if he could see right into my soul and know that I needed a little humor. He would lift it up.
He never lost form, but when he needed to, he would pull you aside and give you a small piece of advice to stay out of harms way, like a grandpa looking out for you... Despite me being older.
I also ways knew he had a coveted home life because he kept the two separate. He was so good to us because he loved you so much. I saw him stride, I saw his shoulders buckle, I saw his eyes in pain and I saw his eyes filled with a spirit that lives on long after the flesh. For his spirit is strong and lives among us, it lives inside us. Challenge accepted. We can charge forward with that twinkle and zest for good things in life, and make him proud. For while he was humble, his spirit is mighty and true, full of honor and loyalty.

Norman was a valued friend and colleague at the Advertising Research Foundation for the past 15 years.
For reasons that are not entirely clear to me, my family chose me to deliver the eulogies at the funerals of my parents and my in-laws—attendees at those funerals made me swear that I would, when the time came, deliver the eulogies at their funerals. I’m thankful that in the intervening years, I’ve not been called upon to honor that pledge all that often…and then…something like this happens. I made no pledge to Norman because there was no need to – in the “natural order of things”, I would surely pass before Norman.
None of us knows when we’re going to die; but we all grow up envisioning our deaths as happening at some far off time --- surely not something that happens to young people, or something that could happen this very day --- not when there are so many things left to do, things to experience, people to meet. But if the last year has taught us anything, it’s that the natural order of things can change in an instant. And so it was that this natural order was upset when I got that phone call from Rose one week ago. Just the week before, she had told me that Norman was improving slowly, so – veering toward optimism – I hoped that when I saw the number pop up on my screen, that it would be Rose telling me that Norman had turned the corner and had been released from the ICU and that he would be home soon, and so on…hopes that were shattered when I heard Rose’s voice on the other end of the phone.
For 5 of the last 6 years, Norman was the first person I’d see in the AM when I came off the elevator; greeted with a “Hey Boss”, we’d spend the first 10 or 15 minutes of the day together sometimes just shooting the breeze, other times dealing with issues or questions. You would never know that each day, he would make that 70 mile trip each way, because he always beat EVERYONE into the office. We still don’t know when we’ll make it back to Park Avenue South, but I for one can’t imagine what that first day will be like walking into the office and seeing that empty chair, knowing that the good, kind soul who occupied it will not be there to say “Hey Boss”. But there will always be the gratitude that I will feel for having had the opportunity to work alongside someone like Norman; he always wanted to learn but he also already had the things you can't teach – he was honest, smart, hard-working, humble, loving and loved.
For at least the past 3 years, Norman was coping with a debilitating nerve condition that caused intense pain in his jaw; I think we all knew how stubborn Norman was about seeking medical attention but, finally, he did last summer and was on the road to achieving some of the relief he had sought for so many years. But for too long, he had suffered silently…never letting on that he was in pain…overcompensating for the so-called “inefficient time” by working later into the evening or on weekends; this was who he was…and he asked for no special recognition of those efforts. He did so out of a sense of duty to himself and his family…and make no mistake about it…to him, the ARF was family.
For all the time that we spend together in an office, we rarely get to know that much about what people are like out of the office; and so it was with Norman. Sure, we’d ask each other what we did over the weekend or talk about vacations and such, but for the most part, I envisioned 2 Norman’s – a “Work Norman” and a “Home Norman”. The “Work Norman” was the guy right off the elevator, head usually down or staring straight ahead toward his screen; hard working; willing to do anything to help; enjoying the times when the group socialized at holiday parties or staff events; a guy who always made sure he got the lunch and the “lunch and learns”; a man who knew the pleasures of a fine single malt. The “Home Norman” was certainly different….or was he?
When I spoke with Rose last week and when I read the tributes posted here, it became apparent that we were fortunate enough to experience “Norman” – he was who he was….his relatives spoke of his willingness to help with any family member at any time of need; all it took was a phone call and he was there; he provided financial support to his family both here and overseas; he enjoyed and never missed the family parties; he was a beloved uncle and brother; he and Rose were 2 peas in a pod; and there were few equals to Norman as a devoted son to his parents…so there weren’t 2 Norman’s at all; just one Norman that we at the ARF were lucky enough to have been able to share with his family.
As I looked through those postings on the website, there was a dusty black and white picture of Norman and a group of children taken on the streets of Manila in the late 60’s early-70’s. And it was then that I realized how much Norman had accomplished in his life. It could not have been easy coming from where he came from and making his way in a new country, a new culture, a land of opportunity, but also a land of challenges and prejudices. My mother was an immigrant as well, coming to America after WW2 as a 17 year-old and so I probably have a soft spot in my heart for people who have followed a similar path. It’s easy to overlook their accomplishments but it’s so important to remember where people come from and it helps one appreciate those accomplishments that much more.
George Bernard Shaw, the Irish playwright, wrote in one of his plays, The Doctor's Dilemma, that "Life does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh." There can be no stopping the immediate shock, sorrow and grief that we all feel right now about Norman's death; we must grieve, we must cry, we must feel a sense of anger about why it had to happen to him so close to what appears to be the end of the pandemic; but we must also treasure the gifts that he left us... his friendship, his laugh; we must always remember his dedication, his kindness...and we must always remember that despite this tragedy, our lives go on...so much the better for his having been a part of them...and we will laugh again.
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; Love leaves a memory no one can steal. Rest in peace, dear friend.

I worked with Norman for ten years. We all had a lot of fun during the early years and Norman was always a solid friend and colleague. He would do anything for anyone and was a constant at the ARF.
He will be missed and things just won’t be the same without him. He truly cared about the company and the people and was a dedicated family man. Always speaking fondly about Rose and his brothers during our kitchen breaks. I will miss our conversations about working out and his training stories with his brothers. He adored his family and always glowed when he spoke about them.
We will miss you and may you rest in peace, Norman.

I hired Norman Cordova on July 24, 2006 as my Accounting Manager. He was my right-hand man for 8 years. Norman was a key hire that was instrumental in the success of the company. He was diligent and made all the monthly deadlines that were imposed on him. I never had to worry about work getting done because Norman would take care of it. We were a team and we had 8 great years together.
In 2014 when my employment contract was not renewed, Norman showed the utmost loyalty to me. He wanted to resign in protest. I rarely ever saw Norman get angry but this was one of those instances. I was fine with the company’s decision and I had to convince Norman to stay. I didn’t want him to make a rash decision to show his allegiance. It took some doing to change Norman’s mind but I did. Norman could be pretty stubborn at times.
Norman said to me “You’re like my big brother.” I know that was the greatest compliment that he could have ever given to me.
Norman was a family man and family meant everything to him. When we worked late, he would talk about his wife and share stories. Also, he would talk about his little brother the Fed that he was so proud of.
What is the measure of a man? It's the effect that he has on the lives of the people that he meets. Norman touched everyone that he met. He will be remembered by these words: nice guy, friendly, kind, diligent, modest, responsible and helpful. His big smile always made people feel welcome. Norman you will be sorely missed. Rest in peace my friend.

Norman was a great big brother and an uncle. Now that you’re no longer here physically, Noriel has some big shoes to fill, but he will try his best, our best, to do even half of what you did for all of us, your family. Please continue to watch over us especially your nephews and nieces that you loved so much! You would’ve been so proud of Cara when she goes to college. You know she always wanted to be like her uncles. But I know in spirit you’ll be there cheering for her.
It’s goodbye for now, until we meet again... we love you so much!

Norman and I were colleagues at the Advertising Research Foundation from 2006-2013. We sat near one another those years. He was one of the first I'd see each morning. Norman's smile and kindness came through always, He made a kind of crazy workplace a bit saner, he was so steady and even-tempered and never flustered. His generosity was endless, even going so far as to gladly notarizing personal documents for me and others when there was a need. "I'll bring my stamp in tomorrow" he would say. "We'll get it done." Knowing that I had Norman's stamp of approval meant so much to me in so many ways. Rest peacefully my friend.

Kuya Norman was my oldest cousin and I still remember remember visiting NY, he was always super generous whether it be with time or money. He never hesitated to pick up us up from the airport or take us out in the city with my siblings or even friends and treat us to whatever we wanted to eat or drink. He along with his brothers were part of the reason we loved NY...
It’s still surreal that you’re gone Kuya Norman. Thank you for being there for my big life moments like my cotillion and wedding and it breaks my heart we can’t be there for your final goodbye. Thank you for your endless generosity, for modeling how to be a great big brother (to your brothers) and big cousin (to me and my siblings) , for being a good son (to uncle siso and aunt flor) and most of all being an amazing spouse (rose). Goodbyes are never easy but it was an honor having you in all our lives so thank you and I know Lola Doray will take good care of you in heaven.

To the love of my life
I’m here broken hearted. The love of my life went to be with the Lord. Pain is what I feel, my heart is broken in million pieces. I won’t see him anymore, we won’t laugh together anymore. My Norman was very funny he used to said “Rose you are always laughing”. I said because you make me laugh. Everyday and night I just think of my Norman wishing he was here with me. I know I will see you in heaven when my time comes. I remember happy and the funny things you’d do. But I feel sad and think of you and cry. I’m missing you very much and still asking God why? I don’t know what will happen when I face another day. But I still thank the Lord for the time I had with you. Love you so much and miss you forever my hubby the love of my life. To the Cordova family; your sweet prince is gone, but his memory forever remains. He touched our hearts and we are deeply sorrowed by his passing and share in your loss.
Until we break bread again,
and toast, among family and friends,
may you sail on with wings unfurled,
and take our love beyond this world
Normanator; I will miss you, my brother!

But as god call us one by one the chain will link again.
You will always be in our heart.

Saying goodbye is never easy, especially to someone as special as you. Always know that’s there is always a special place for you on my heart, because good friend like you is hard to find. When we came to this country, and met you and your family, you made us feel so welcome. Goodbyes are not forever. Goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean I’ll miss you, until we meet again. You were such a great son, brother, uncle and husband! You were the big brother that everyone looked up to! We love you. Rest In Peace in with our Lord

Norman was my older brother and him and I were very close. Although we were years apart, we shared a lot of the same friends.
Norman was a fun-loving person who lived his life to the fullest. He was also up for anything. Whether it was a last minute road trip, or you needed a ride, he was always ready and willing. Because of his easy-going nature, my brother had a lot of friends. He was one of those people who never complained and could always be counted on.
Responsible, Compassionate and his love for family and friends was unwavering. He was simply a great guy.
Kuya Norman “when we meet at the pearly gates, get ready to say cheers, because I’ll bring the beers” We love you!

I will always remember Norman for his kindness, earnestness and generosity of spirit. When he smiled, he beamed—it was contagious! I hope he enjoyed life to the fullest. He worked so hard, and you could sense that the reason was not that he had to, but that it was important to him to do the right thing. Thank you, Norman, for everything. I will miss you dearly.

Always the life of a party, Kuya Norman had a way about him that could always brighten a day. A glass half full one would say.
I’ll appreciate the guidance you gave me when I was younger. “Family always comes first” as you would say and I cherish that virtue every single day.
I’ll love and miss you, Kuya
