I went to SJB with Joanie and graduated in the class of 1971. Like me Joanie was a baseball fan, she a Mets fan, I a Yankees fan. The last time I saw her was at CitiField. My deepest sympathies to you, Gerri and the Brooks family.

Joanie was such an important part of my early years in the "real" world, when we used to leave our jobs on Fridays and travel to Washington, or Philadelphia, or Boston to watch Virginia Slims or Avon tennis. She kept Maggie and I from clobbering each other as we passionately routed for Chris (Maggie) and Martina (me). I will miss sending her reminders of those days. Just this weekend I saw a great new photo of Chris and Martina and it made me miss my tennis buddies. Condolences to you, Geri, and your family. You're right. She lived her life well and had a big impact on so many.

Dear Geri,
Leroy and I were deeply saddened to learn about Joanie. We have many happy memories of her, especially when we celebrated Christmas. I personally think of Joanie when I use some of the Christmas gifts that she gave me - yes, I am still using some of them! She was a wonderful, generous, kind, funny, and thoughtful person. My father wrote the following words when my mother died. They can be for Joanie too: " She has gone no further from us than to God, and God is very near." All our love, Maggie and Leroy

I will miss Joanie very much. I'll miss her laugh, her quick wit, and, in her healthy years, her energy. She was always a step ahead at the office, she loved to play and watch tennis, she loved to travel, she used to visit me in Montauk and help me plant the spring flowers. And every summer when she visited me the gas tank in the BBQ grill would inevitably run out. Right on time for her visit. Even now, whenever the gas tank runs out in my grill I think Joanie might be coming for a visit. How I wish.
Dear Geri - my thoughts are with you in this very sad time. Please take care of yourself, stay healthy, stay well. XXOO

I am a friend of Joan's sister Geri and I have known Geri since the 1990s. Joan helped me get a job in her office when I was getting my master's degree. She was generous and offered her hand to help when she could. I have very fond memories of her over the years. We did not socialize often, but Joan was always part of our "crowd." I am saddened that she had to leave so soon. I wish her peace and rest.....and keep an eye on all of us!

Dear Cousin Geri, Eddie and I share with you the loss of your beloved Sister and my dearest Cousin Joanie. We have fond memories of visiting you, Joanie and your parents in Queens NY, numerous Christmas dinners together, birthday celebrations and trips to Ireland. It is hard to believe that Joanie is gone from us. As we look upon Joanie's pictures, sweet memories we recall, of a face so full of sunshine and a smile for one and all. Ar Dheis De go Raibh a anam dilis (May her faithful soul be at the right hand of God). May Joanie Rest in Peace.
