Obituary of Peter Rodriguez

Peter Rodriguez, 80, was called home by his Father in Heaven on March 30, 2020. Born August 26, 1939, in New York City, he is survived by his wife, Jennie; along with his children Peter Rodriguez, Raquel McMahon, Patrice (Paul) Matthews, Melissa (Thomas) McIntyre, and Michael (Janelle) Rodriguez; 13 grandchildren; and his brothers Robert and James (Janet) Rodriguez. He was preceded in death by his son Matthew Rodriguez. Peter proudly served his country as a U.S. Marine and represented the strength, beauty, and hope of the American dream. He was a pioneer in the banking industry and worked tirelessly to provide for his family and loved ones. In his spare time, he enjoyed movies, history, and tending to his plants. Most of all, he treasured making quality memories with those he loved unconditionally. Peter was bright, funny, warm, inviting, and generous. He was a man of remarkable strength and courage, and those qualities drew others to him wherever he went. No one will ever forget his spontaneous singing, his quick wit, his "dad jokes" and tongue twisters, or his ability to serve as the rock upon which others relied in difficult times. He left this world a better place than he found it, and his spirit resonates in the lives of those that he touched upon this earth. Private funeral services will be held at Calverton National Ceremony on Tuesday, April 7. A celebration of Peter's life for friends and family will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, and to honor Peter's memory, donations can be made to Semper Fi Fund (www.SemperFiFund.org) and Alzheimer's Foundation of America (https://alzfdn.org/).
