Obituary of Alejandro Marcial Cayana Lapena

Celebrating His Life & Spirit Alejandro Marcial Cayana Lapeña (known to many as Andy), age 78, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 8, 2019, at Long Island Jewish Hospital in Forest Hills, New York. A devout Catholic, Andy drew his strength from his faith and was fully devoted to his family. Andy was born June 30, 1940, in Meycauayan, Bulacan to Sergio and Margarita Lapeña. He moved to the United States with his late wife, Santita Anita Meneses Lapeña, and their four children more than forty years ago. He truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures: spending time with his family and friends and helping others. His generosity was unending, and he never asked for anything in return. His commitment to his family, both here and abroad, was true. He gave what he could — guidance, support, strength, love. Andy was inspirational and had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. Andy is survived by his children Alvin (his wife Lynne, their children Roxanne and Carter), Adel (his wife Jocelyn, their children Aaron and Meaghan), Alona (her husband Richard, their children Madison and Matthew), and Amelia (her husband Keelan, their children Samuel, Joshua, and Zachary), and his longtime partner, Connie Potenciano. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Andy's life and spirit at Edward D. Lynch Funeral Home 43-07 Queens Blvd. Sunnyside, New York on March 16 & 17 between 2:00-5:00 P.M. and 7:00-9:00 P.M. Funeral Mass at Saint Sebastian Church 58-02 Roosevelt Avenue, Woodside, NY on Monday, March 18th at 10:45 A.M. for his final rest at Pinelawn Memorial Park 2030 Wellwood Ave. Farmingdale, New York. The Lapeña family would like to request in lieu of flowers or gifts, to please donate to any of the following charities: https://www.cancer.org https://corporate.abs-cbn.com/lingkodkapamilya/bantay-bata
