Obituary of Marilou Hoey Sadd
Marilou Patricia "Sissie" Sadd
Mother, Nurse, Musician, Humanitarian
7/3/58 – 11/21/18
Marilou Patricia Sadd (née Hoey), 60, passed away on Wednesday November 21, 2018. She was born in Oyster Bay, NY, the daughter of Edward and Virginia Hoey. Marilou spent her childhood in Wantagh, NY and spoke often of fond summertime memories at Jones Beach with her family.
Marilou lit up every room, bodega and life she walked into with her warm spirit and smiling eyes. She exuded an undeniable sincerity and jubilance with her neighbors, friends, family, and perhaps most notably with strangers. She knew more than most, the importance of compassion and the value of a kind word or gesture, especially when it was least expected. Her love of connecting with people and her uncanny ability to strike up conversations in unlikely situations, built her lasting bonds with newfound friends and touched the lives of countless people.
She found endless joy in her lifelong passions – swimming, horseback riding, and singing (she LOVED music!) She would sing any chance she got, at church, karaoke bars, an empty theatre; and she would sing in any style, be it rock & roll, country western, hymnals, or show tunes.
Marilou is survived by her daughters Katie Sadd, and Kristen Matella and husband Thomas Matella, and her son William Sadd and wife Megan Kordenbrock; brother Edward Hoey; sister Debbie Williams; and three grandchildren – Madison Matella, Mitchell Matella, and Josephine Sadd.
The family will receive friends Friday, November 30th, 2018 from 4-8 PM at Edward D. Lynch Funeral Home, 43-07 Queens Boulevard, Sunnyside, NY 11104, with a prayer service at 7 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 1st, 2018, at Church of St. Teresa, 50-20 45th Street, Woodside, NY 11377, at 11:00 AM. Final rest at Locust Valley Cemetery. Celebration of Life Karaoke Party at The Globe Tavern, 49-10 Skillman Avenue, Sunnyside, NY 11104, 8:00 PM.
