Obituary of Kazuko Takizawa

Kazuko Takizawa December 19, 1966 – February 13, 2017 Kazuko Takizawa, 50, was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, wife and dear friend of many who felt both blessed and honored to have spent time with such a beautiful person in every sense of the word. Born in Tokyo, Kazuko is the daughter of Akebono and the late Makoto Komatsu. She is survived by her two loving sons; Meril and Henry Takizawa, husband Masaki Takizawa and two sisters; Tomoko Kinoshita and Eiko Toma and their families. Kazuko graduated from Tokyo Women’s Christian University where she majored in American History, specializing in the study of the American Civil War. In 1995, Kazuko came to New York City and put down permanent roots, settling in the West Village where she readily embraced all the richness and great diversity of life that the community offered. She worked for a time as an economic journalist and for the last several years was a fine art curator for the Tenri Center. Her astute design sense and appreciation for both classical and contemporary art were apparent in the many memorable exhibits she curated for Tenri. Kazuko was a champion of artists from many cultures and as a flute player in Tenri’s Gagaku Music Society she mastered this ancient and venerable form of Japanese music and ritual. To her many friends around the world, Kazuko was adventurous, joyful and lived life to its fullest. She loved playing soccer with the Dragons, traveling to tournaments in New Jersey, upstate New York and even Paris where she was an energetic, graceful and tenacious competitor. Kazuko also loved music, playing the piano, reading books, cooking and drinking margaritas, and she had a terrific sense of style. Of course there was nothing that brought her as much joy and fulfillment as being a mother to Meril and Henry, as she shepherded them from infancy to the accomplished young men they are today. Lynch Funeral Home, Inc. 43-07 Queens Boulevard, Sunnyside, NY. Cremation will be in Fresh Pond Crematory, Middle Village on Friday, February 17 at 10am.
