Obituary of James J. Walker

James (Jim/Jimmy) Joseph Walker passed away peacefully on October 12, 2023 at Parker Jewish Institute of New Hyde Park, NY. He was born on August 30, 1936 in Doomore, Cloonacool, Tubbercurry, Co. Sligo, Ireland. He immigrated to the United States in 1960 and lived with his Aunt Betty and Uncle Bill Cleary at Loring Place, Bronx, NY. He was employed by Rosenwach Tank Co. of Long Island City, NY prior to being drafted into the US Army in 1961. He was stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado and Honorably Discharged in 1963 as a Sergeant. He then returned to work at Rosenwach Tank Co. until an injury in 1993 brought about his early retirement. He met and married his wife, Margaret (Teresa) Deane in the City Centre Dance Hall in 1965. He married her later that year at which time they moved to Sunnyside and joined St. Raphael's Parish. He leaves behind his beloved wife Teresa. his children John, Maureen Dennehy and her husband Peter, Michael and his wife Valerie and Teresa Buckmaster and her husband Robert, his grandchildren Caitlin, Robert, Donovan, Matthew, Bridget, Nicole, Colleen and James and loving brothers, sisters, brother-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son James Walker and his daughter-in-law Kathy. Visitation will be Thursday, October 19 from 4-8PM at Edward D. Lynch Funeral Home, Inc, 43-07 Queens Boulevard, Sunnyside, NY. Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 am on Friday, October 20, 2023 at St. Raphael's RCC, 35-20 Greenpoint Avenue, Long Island City, NY. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, in Woodside.
