Obituary of Charles W. Kennedy

Charles William Kennedy, 83, passed away peacefully June 3, 2023, after a long illness. Born and raised in Queens, Charles spent his childhood in Corona and most of his adult life in Sunnyside. He served in the U. S. Army, attaining the rank of sergeant. A graduate of St. John's University, Charles later earned his master's degree in English from Fordham University. Charles was an avid stamp and coin collector, a writer of poetry, a Mets fan, and a member of the Knights of Columbus (Hudson Council) and the John V. Daniels, Jr. VFW Post. Devoted son of the late Elma (née Laine) and William Kennedy. Beloved husband of the late Regina Marie (née Shannon), loving father of daughter Eileen, dear father-in-law to Victor, and cherished grandfather of Olivia. Treasured brother of Elaine and brother-in-law of Richard (both predeceased); brother-in-law of Nora and William (both predeceased); and brother-in-law of John and Jean (predeceased). Dear uncle of nephews Joseph (predeceased), Steven, Richard, Matthew (predeceased), Joseph, and John, and nieces Marie and Ann. Visitation will be Thursday, June 8 from 4-8PM at Edward D. Lynch Funeral Home, Inc, 43-07 Queens Boulevard, Sunnyside, NY. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 am on Friday, June 9, 2023 at Queen Of Angels RCC, 44th Street And Skillman Avenue, Sunnyside, NY. Burial will be in Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton on Friday, June 9 at 1:00 pm.
