Pius Chike Odinmah died June 3, 2026 at Forest Hills Hospital of Forest Hills, NY. Pius Chike was born to James and Christiana Odinmah on June 18, 1948, in Ubakala, Umuahia, Abia State, Nigeria. The firstborn of seven siblings, Pius was a beloved eldest brother who was deeply respected by his family.

Relocating to the United States in the 1980s, Pius Chike found community through his calling as an educator, teaching in New York City's public schools and leading classes and ministries within his faith community at the Ephesus Seventh-day Adventist Church. In 1991, he married Natividad Aponte. They shared 34 years together, along with their daughter, Priscilla, who was born in 1993.

Beloved by his community, Pius Chike will always be remembered as an embodiment of strength, tenacity, and goodwill. He will be remembered as a brother, husband, father, leader, educator, writer, believer, and unwavering voice for his family and community. Above all, he always fulfilled these roles with a smile and a jovial spirit -- this is what we will miss the most. Visitation will be Sunday, June 14 from 3-7PM at Edward D. Lynch Funeral Home, Inc, 43-07 Queens Boulevard, Sunnyside, NY.

Burial will be in Pinelawn Memorial Park, Farmingdale on Monday, June 15 at 11:30am.
