Patrick (Pat, Paddy) was born in Manhattan (97th St) to Irish parents, Daniel Shea from St Finnian's Bay, Co. Kerry and Delia Kennedy from Mountbellew, Co. Galway, Ireland.

Pat leaves behind 3 siblings: Mary Hunt, Anne Flynn and Tom Shea. He also leaves behind brothers-in-law Tom Hunt, Sean Flynn and sister-in-law Kathy Shea and many nieces & nephews: Sean Flynn (Kerry), Brendan Flynn (Heather), Brian Flynn, Shanna Moran (Kevin) Kristy Shea, Veronica Stoecker (Kevin), Danny Shea(Nicole), Neil Hunt, Jenny Judge (Brendan), and Julie Hutchinson (Geoff). Throughout his life Pat remained close to his family.

Pat went to Mater Christi High School. After graduation he worked at Cress florists for several years before opening two flower stores. He was an excellent bartender who could handle a large crowd and keep the banter going at the same time. At one time he was part owner of Shea's Dugout pub in Woodside.

In his early 30s he went west to San Francisco. While he was in San Francisco he made many friends in the Irish community. He worked at Ranger Pipelines in SF on the construction crew and was known as a hard worker and good fun.

He left SF in 1995 and headed back home to Maspeth where he became part of the community and worked construction meeting many good Irish friends along the way. He had many local hangouts on Grand Ave but had a soft spot in his heart for Gibbons' pub. He was an avid sports fan following Irish football, hurling and the New York Mets.

Pat died at home surrounded by family while on Hospice.

The family would like to thank the many visitors who stopped by the hospital, the house and called Pat. We know Pat appreciated the thoughtfulness.

We will miss him greatly.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 23 from 4-8PM at Edward D. Lynch Funeral Home, Inc, 43-07 Queens Boulevard, Sunnyside, NY.

Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 am on Friday, April 24, 2026 at St. Mary's Winfield, 70-20 47th Avenue, Woodside, NY.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Woodside on Friday, April 24 at 11:45 am.

A celebration of Patrick's life (at his request) will be held at Gibbons' Pub, 54-12 69th St, Maspeth on Friday afternoon.
