I have been wanting to write something for "big" Sheila for a long time now. She and other "mothers" from 58th lane have been mentioned many times in my years of therapy, including the one that I am currently in for Childhood Trauma's. So it turns out that my own family chose to ignore, forget and not love me, even to this day (I am now 56 and will be 57 on Oct. 30 the day before Sheila's). The ONLY reason I was able to get thru the "coldness" of my family was because of people like Sheila, who loved me unconscionably. She always had a huge smile on her face when I seen her, whether I was a little boy or an Adult. Her arms were always open for a hug, and she was a GREAT, TIGHT hugger! Thank you so much for the love you shared with me, and you will always be a name that comes out of my mouth for years to come! P.s. Since your kids are doing and are amazing, maybe you can peek in on me every now and then. I'm sure "little" Sheila would be fine with that. xoxo Always Eric Amorosi

Suaimhneas síoraí do anam Síle. May Síle rest in Peace. I have fond memories of Síle growing up in Derrypark. We visited herself & Pat together with my Auntie, Noreen Lydon O’Donoghue, a few times & more recently last year at their home near the Catskills, NY. The blueberries she shared were amazing. My deepest condolences to the entire Prendergast family. I was saddened to hear of Sheila’s passing. I remember her fondly as we were neighbors for years on 58 Lane. Sheila was lovely, warm and kindhearted. One memory I have of Sheila’s generosity is that years ago on a very rainy and stormy morning, she insisted on driving me down to the train station. She and my Mom were good friends as well. My Mom thought the world of her. May your sweet memories always comfort you and bring you peace. Rest in eternal peace, Sheila. God bless the family.
