My Mother and John's Mother were best friends. I was a childhood friend and knew him since I was a baby. We shared cribs and carriages and went to Ascension School together. We lived one block from each other. He moved to Woodside, but we still remained best friends
He moved to Woodside when we were ten, but we still remained close friends. When we moved to Long Island, I couldn't wait for him, his mother,Philomena and his sister, Jacqueline to visit us. I am very distressed to learn of his passing, but I will retain great memories of our friendship. Rest in Peace and God bless you John,
Billy Kilfoil

My first of many memories of John was him inviting me to his house to hear him playing drums to a recording of the Chambers Brothers song "Time Has Come Today". He loved the cowbell and wood block parts. I am playing it as I type this. John lived his life with gusto. I lost contact with him about 45 years ago but have fond memories of the time we shared. He was a fine man.
