Obituary of Sophia Maragoudakis

Sophia Maragoudakis, née Psitos, age 80, of Sunnyside, Queens, fell asleep in the Lord on July 11, 2025. Sophia was the beloved wife of Michael Maragoudakis, for 49 years. She was the devoted mother of Katina and George Tzortzatos, Michael and Katerina Maragoudakis, Erin and Nicholas Papakostopoulos, and John and Stefani Maragoudakis. She was the cherished grandmother of John and Christopher Maragoudakis, Sophia, Konstantinos, Eva, and Katerina Papakostopoulos, and of Michael and Anna Maragoudakis. Sophia's kindness, strength, and warm heart shaped the lives of all who knew her, from her time teaching at Bryant High School and working at Sunnyside Florist with her grandparents John and Maria Psitos, parents John and Irene Psitos, and brother Bill Psitos. She will be remembered as someone who gave all of herself to everyone around her and never asked for anything in return. Visitation will be Monday, July 14 from 3-8pm at Edward D. Lynch Funeral Home, Inc, 43-07 Queens Boulevard, Sunnyside, NY. Funeral Service will be held 11:30 am on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at St. Demetrios G.O. Church, 30-11 30th Drive, Astoria, NY. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Maspeth on Wednesday, July 15 at 1:00 pm.
