Obituary of A. Luis Colberg

A. Luis Colberg died Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at home in Woodside. A. Luis was born August 29, 1924 in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico. He served in the Army during World War II and was a Structural Engineer with Hammon and Whitney Engineers for 35 years. As a bridge building engineer, A. Luis Colberg built roads and bridges that were not confined to just vehicular use, rather, he built highways that connect family and friends with strong bonds that will endure for generations to enjoy and reflect upon. The demand of his occupation permitted A. Luis and his wife Patricia to travel to many places of the world, building roads and connecting people and societies throughout his work but mostly by his personality. Always pleasant, always willing to lend a helping hand, welcomed anyone within his circle and made everyone feel at home with his warm smile. Many of the Countries he traveled to, he meet people that were poor and in serious need of the basics for survival, such as water and food. Based on these experiences, A. Luis became involved with his church as a Deacon and later as an Elder, in charitable programs helping those who were in need. A. Luis is survived by his wife Patricia, his son A. Luis Jr. his daughters Sylvia Rebecca, Deborah and Brenda and granddaughters Teresa , Christina and Lauren. Visitation will be Sunday, October 11 from 2-5PM and 7-9PM at Edward D. Lynch Funeral Home, Inc, 43-07 Queens Boulevard, Sunnyside, NY with Prayer service at 3pm. The funeral will be held 10am on Monday, October 12, 2015 at Edward D. Lynch Funeral Home, Inc, 43-07 Queens Boulevard, Sunnyside, NY. Burial will be in Calverton National Cemetery.
